Crushing the fragile skin of aluminum pop cans beneath grass stained sneakers and throwing hotel soap bars in ditch puddles to watch the water striders drown. They set fire cracker fuses burning shorter, playing a jack in the box tune waiting for the pop.

The creamy white of her wrists shines as she polishes them with a thumb; the days accumulation of grime thin enough to join the dust in the air. The brightness beneath amuses her. Intrigued, she fingers the whiteness gently running an index finger across the pale blue veins beneath; wondering if they modeled porcelain off of skin.
